'Losing Texas values': MAGA frets over American culture as video of Bollywood dance at Texas high school goes viral

The Texas landscape has become a boiling pot of anti-immigration sentiment fuelled by the fire of an alleged ‘takeover’ and ‘invasion’ by the Indian-American community. A recent video of a celebration in a school in Texas has taken the internet by storm, spiralling the MAGA minds with worry over the loss of their culture.‘Trinity High School in Euless, Texas recently held a Bollywood dance. Homecoming is a longstanding tradition at many Texas high schools,’ captioned a post on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting how the American homecoming was a traditional day for students and involved cultural dances from the land. In the clip students from the high school could be seen donning traditional Indian attires of lehenga choli and kurtas while performing to a song from a Bollywood movie starring actor Shah Rukh Khan. Many on the internet raged about immigration and called for the deportation of the Indian-American community due to the spread of their culture in the country. “Why are these people in Texas instead of India? Like I know that you are sort of shaped similarly so maybe there’s some confusion but this is just getting so ridiculous. Like it’s one thing to allow exchange programs where you have a few foreign students, but to create massive groups of them to the point that they started eclipsing your own civilisation,” wrote one user on X. “They should be denaturalised and deported for not assimilating,” called another. “Way back in the day, when Texas was still Texas, who could have imagined high school gyms in Texas full of idol worshipping dancing Indians?” one questioned. “Where are the parents! Losing Texas values,” slammed one. The video was taken in the Trinity High School in Euless, Texas and was of their cultural day celebration in 2025, rather than homecoming. The school is known to celebrate the diversity of its students on the day with cultural performances from across the globe. “We’re here to celebrate every culture of every student. We’re here to share and rejoice and just celebrate how diverse we are and how amazing we are,” said one of the authorities of the school in a video shared on its YouTube channel. “The best thing about culture day is that I get to celebrate not just my culture but also my friends’ culture,” said one of the students from the school. Students performed dance from various countries globally on the day, including South Africa, Tonga and India. Many on Reddit pointed out that the school hosted one of the ‘most’ diverse collection of students across America. The school’s football team is known to perform the Haka, a ceremonial dance of the Maori people from New Zealand, before playing. “I went to Trinity, it is not one of the more diverse high schools in North Texas, it is one of the most diverse high schools in the United States. Nothing else in North Texas frankly comes close” wrote a Redditor. The celebrations throughout the day were diverse and represented numerous other cultures. However, a clip of the Indian dance was circulated online to promote the anti-Indian rhetoric going viral in America right now. As per a recent report by the Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI), titled ‘How a Small Network Hijacked the Immigration Debate’, anti-Indian content on X tripled in weekly volume during 2025. Between January and December 2025, the researchers identified more than 24,000 posts which collectively generated over 30 million views. Numerous similar clips have been posted and circulated far and wide in social media forums to promote anti-Indian sentiment in the states and create a hostile environment for the community, as a call for action on the rising demand for their deportation and a ban on H-1B visas.
