Dakota Johnson admits shaking everyone’s hand cost her a role: ‘They said that I was being cocky’
In an unexpected twist, Dakota Johnson shared a quirky audition tale where her effort to be gracious led to an unforeseen outcome. After warmly shaking hands with each panel member, she was blindsided by feedback stating she came across as ‘overconfident’ and ‘self-important.’ Johnson was taken aback, clarifying that her intentions were rooted in genuine politeness, not arrogance.

Dakota Johnson may have thought that she was just being polite; however, according to the actress’s latest confession, it may have cost her a role. The star shared during one of her recent appearances that one time during an audition, an action that she thought was just her being polite, ended up costing her the role and being called “pompous” among other things. The ‘Madame Web’ recently sat down for an interview with Hits Radio, where she shared some stories from her career. Johnson revealed that one time, she could not land a role because of her politeness and manners. This shocked everyone as she further detailed the matter, sharing that she had gone to give an audition and had shaken everyone’s hands.“Then I did the scene, and I left. And the feedback I got was that because I had gone and introduced myself and shaken everyone’s hand, that I was, like, pompous, that I was schmoozing and full of myself,” she added, revealing how shocked she was at the reply. “I was like, what? I didn’t get the job because they said that I was being cocky,” she said, “I just had manners.” The actress did not exactly reveal which role she had tried for during this incident.

The story is said to be focused on a girl on the autism spectrum who wishes to grow and be independent after high school comes to an end.
