Vemal’s rural drama ‘Vadam’, centered on the Manjuvirattu game, is set for an OTT release on Sun NXT on April 3 after a lukewarm theatrical reception. Despite an interesting concept, the film faced criticism for content deficiency. The movie explores themes of revenge and betrayal through a villager’s journey training a bull for competition.

Vemal starrer ‘Vadam’ was released on March 6, but the response to the movie was not any better. The film attempted to explore a different concept in a village backdrop; in reality, its core concept centers around the Manjuvirattu game. However, the film wasn’t successful with the audience or critics due to content deficiency. Many stated that the concept in this film is interesting, but the second part doesn’t engage with that concept. Along with him, ‘Vadam’ also features a powerful villain (Natty Nataraj), Sanashka Sri, Munishkanth, Aadukalam Naren, Madhusudhan Rao, Deepa Shankar, Bala Saravanan, and Indhumathi.

With regard to reviews, ‘Vadam’ is a blend of emotions, action, and village drama. Vemal has given a natural performance that suits the role. Munishkanth has done well in a supporting role. The film has some interesting moments and its share of twists and turns, but it is likely to remind the audience of several films from this genre. All in all, ‘Vadham’ is a passable watch, and its OTT release could earn it better viewership as the performances are decent.
