Durga ashtami is going to be celebrated tomorrow, on Ashtami tithi of shukla paksha in the month of Chaitra i.e., on March 26, 2026. This is an auspicious day to worship Mahagauri Maa and people will perform kanya pujan on this day. They invite girls at home and feed them with sattvik food halwa poori chana.

How to worship Lord Surya on Ashtami Tithi:

1. You should wake up early in the morning and start your day by worshipping Lord Surya. You can take the copper vessel and offer water to Surya Dev while chanting Surya mantras. 2. The day is considered extremely sacred to recite Aditya Hriday stotram and performing Sun salutation as this will create a spiritual connection with the divine energy.

Perform Kanya Puja on Chaitra Durga Ashtami:

1. After performing Surya rituals, prepare sattvik food – halwa, poori and chana and offer it to the Goddess Durga first then break the coconut.2. Invite nine small girls at home and worship them symbolizes the divine feminine energy. 3. Apply tilak on their forehead, tie red sacred thread (Mauli), wash their feet and give them proper place to sit. 4. Give them food, piece of coconut, gifts, dakshina and seek their blessings by touching their feet as this ritual represents the respect for the divine feminine energy, which will remove all the doshas, sufferings, sins and old karmic patterns. Touching their feet means you are inviting happiness, prosperity and divine grace into your life.

Spiritual significance of worshipping Lord Surya on Ashtami Tithi

This day is dedicated to Maha Gauri Maa, when she appeared in the form of divine mother after killing all the powerful demons and the day signifies the light, suryodaya or sunrise after along period of darkness. The day holds a great religious and spiritual significance in Hindu religion so one must worship Lord Surya and show their gratitude to the Lord. By worship Goddess Gauri and Lord Surya will bring happiness, prosperity, health and vitality in your life.
