Asteroid 2026 FM3 is estimated to be approximately 15 feet (4.5 metres) in diameter, comparable in size to a small car. Its relatively small size classifies it as a minor near-Earth object. The asteroid’s mass and dimensions indicate that it would not survive passage through the Earth’s atmosphere in the event of a collision. Experts note that an object of this size would disintegrate completely due to the heat generated by atmospheric friction.The asteroid is projected to pass at a distance of around 238,000 kilometres from Earth. For comparison, the average distance to the Moon is approximately 384,000 kilometres. The trajectory of 2026 FM3 has been accurately calculated using radar and optical observations.
