As unstable weather and rainfall affect parts of the UAE, authorities have issued a clear warning to motorists and residents, urging caution near flood-prone areas and outlining strict penalties for behaviour that could put lives at risk. UAE authorities have cautioned the public against approaching valleys, dams and flood channels during periods of heavy rain, stressing that such areas can quickly turn dangerous. The Ministry of Interior warned that gathering near these locations is a violation carrying a Dh1,000 fine and six traffic black points. The advisory forms part of broader efforts to prevent accidents and ensure public safety during adverse weather conditions. The ministry also highlighted stricter penalties for entering valleys during active water flow, noting that this remains a serious offence regardless of how safe the situation may appear. Violators face a Dh2,000 fine, 23 black points and a 60-day vehicle impoundment. Authorities emphasised that even shallow or slow-moving water can pose serious risks, and drivers are expected to avoid such areas completely. Officials further warned against obstructing emergency response teams during severe weather. Anyone found hindering police, ambulance or rescue operations faces a Dh1,000 fine, four black points and a 60-day vehicle impoundment, underlining the importance of keeping routes clear during emergencies. Separately, Abu Dhabi Police urged motorists to take precautions before and during travel in unstable weather. Drivers have been advised to check weather forecasts before setting out, avoid roads with water accumulation and stay away from floodwaters. Authorities also stressed the need to follow all safety instructions issued by relevant agencies. The Traffic and Patrols Directorate reinforced safe driving practices, urging motorists to reduce speed, maintain safe distances between vehicles and avoid distractions such as filming or using mobile phones while driving. Police highlighted that such distractions increase the risk of accidents, particularly in poor weather conditions. Motorists have also been reminded to strictly follow posted speed limits and electronic road signs, with officials stressing that compliance is essential to ensure the safety of all road users during rain and unstable weather.
