Villarroel, who worked with Kylie from roughly 2015 to 2020, described a casual exchange in the kitchen that unexpectedly became a turning point. Kylie mentioned she needed her laptop, which was upstairs, and Villarroel remembers joking, “I don’t want to go get your laptop.” That offhand reply, she says, was the first time she truly noticed how far their dynamic had shifted: “You know everything about them-you’re with them at all times, good or bad,” she told reporters, explaining that after years together they had become more like friends than employer and employee.She further added, “I remember like it was yesterday… This is like year five,” Victoria explained. “Me and Kylie, obviously, we had a working relationship. But you can’t get so close to a person that you see every single day, and you know everything about and you’re with them at all times, good or bad. You just become close to this person.”In that moment, she and Kylie just looked at each other and seemed to understand, without words, that her role as an assistant had run its course. Villarroel admitted she was nervous about walking away from what many would call a dream job, even questioning, “Am I making the right decision? What if I’m leaving the best job I could ever have?” What if I’m leaving the best thing—best job I could ever have?’ ” Victoria said. “’Cause people were in my ear being like, ‘You’re gonna leave? People would die for this job.’ ”Yet, she felt a quiet clarity that it was time to step back and focus on her own path. Victoria added that Kylie was always supportive of her and said things to her like “ ‘Oh my god, Vic, I want you to thrive, and I’m gonna be here supporting you. And I love you so much.’ ”Kylie supported her decision, and the two have stayed close even after Villarroel’s departure. Reflecting on her journey from an unpaid intern at Jenner Communications to Kylie’s trusted aide, Villarroel now views that lighthearted laptop moment not as a fight or drama but as a gentle nudge that a new chapter was waiting.
