UPTET 2026 notification released: Application to begin March 27 onwards, check eligibility here

The Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2026 notification for both Primary Level (Class 1 to 5) and Upper Primary Level (Class 6 to 8) is now live on the UPPSC website https://upessc.up.gov.in/. This year, the Commission has introduced a One-Time Registration (OTR) system to simplify the application process and ensure candidates’ information is stored securely for future exams. Aspirants must complete the OTR before applying for UPTET 2026. Eligible candidates can start submitting their applications from March 27, 2026, with the last date being April 26, 2026. The exams are scheduled across three days in July 2026, offering an essential gateway for candidates aiming to become teachers in government and aided schools across Uttar Pradesh.

Who is eligible for UPTET 2026

UPTET is mandatory for candidates aiming to teach in government and aided schools in Uttar Pradesh. Eligibility criteria differ slightly for Primary and Upper Primary levels:

  • Primary Level (Class 1 to 5): Candidates must have completed Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) or equivalent.
  • Upper Primary Level (Class 6 to 8): Candidates must hold a Graduation degree with at least 50% marks along with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) or Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree.

How to apply for UPTET

Candidates must complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) before applying for UPTET 2026. Follow these steps:

  1. Visit OTR Portal: Go to https://uptet.upessc.org/otr/info.
  2. Register: Enter personal details and create login credentials.
  3. Upload Documents: Submit your photograph, signature, and other required documents.
  4. Get OTR ID: Verify and submit registration to receive your OTR ID.
  5. Apply for UPTET: Log in using your OTR ID, fill in educational and exam details.
  6. Pay Fee: Complete the application fee payment online.
  7. Submit & Print: Review your application and take a printout for records.

This process ensures smooth submission and reduces errors during application. The application process for UPTET will begin March 27 onwards.
