Tom Cruise, may just be gearing up to turn villain in his next. The actor is reportedly being eyed to play the key antagonist in the upcoming reboot of ‘Miami Vice’, directed by Joseph Kosinski and starring Austin Butler and Michael B. Jordan in lead roles. Tom Cruise eyed to play villain in ‘Miami Vice’As per reports, the film is being backed by Michael Mann, who previously directed Cruise in his villainous turn in ‘Collateral’. While there is no official confirmation on whether a formal offer has been made to the Hollywood action star, reports suggest Cruise is the frontrunner for the role. As per Variety, the film is described as an ‘exploration of the glamour and corruption of mid-1980s Miami’. While Jordan has been confirmed to play Ricardo Tubbs, Butler will reportedly play the role of James ‘Sonny’ CrockettThe film will also draw inspiration from the pilot and first season of the original TV series.Jordan, fresh out of his Best Actor Oscar win, will also be seen in the upcoming film ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’ which is slated for a March 2027. If production on ‘Miami Vice’ goes as planned, the film is eyeing an August 6, 2027, release date.
