Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum deputy commissioner (DC) Karn Satyarthi has asked the district supplies officer to increase monitoring so that people get LPG refills delivered without inconvenience, particularly during Eid and the Navratri period.The supplies officer, Md Zulfikar Ansari, has been asked to enhance surveillance to avert hoarding and black marketing of the refills. They have been asked to see that the cooking gas cylinders are delivered to the people within the allotted time frame after the booking is done.Further, the local police station have been asked to keep an eye on the activities at the LPG booking centres so that a law and order problem doesn’t arise.Supplies officer Zulfikar Ansari, on the other hand, said that currently domestic LPG is being supplied as per demand. “We are also cooperating with schools and hospitals to avail the refills; in the coming few days, commercial LPG supply will also get normalised,” the officer said.The supplies officer clarified there’s no daily quota as such fixed for the gas agencies for the delivery of the domestic LPG cylinders.Incidentally, the shortage of refills last week triggered panic; consequently, the backlog exceeded 60,000. Currently, the LPG agencies are delivering about 20,000 cylinders daily.
