The World Series I was in, the crowd here, the crowd we had when we played against Mexico, it’s bigger and better than the World Series. As I said, the passion that these fans have representing their country, representing some of their favorite players, there’s nothing like it.” That comment did not sit well with Jeter. Speaking to Fox Sports MLB, he said, “I think the people that say it’s bigger than the World Series never played in a World Series.” Soon after the final, Jeter’s statement became a talking point, especially as fans saw it as a direct response to Judge.

Many supported the importance of the WBC, especially for countries like Venezuela. Some fans said the title meant more to them than club wins in MLB.At the same time, others compared Jeter and Judge’s careers.
