NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kangana Ranaut on Wednesday called the leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi a “tapori” and claimed that women parliamentarians feel “uncomfortable” around him.“Hum mahilaon ko bahut zyada unko dekhkar uncomfortable feel hota hai, kyunki ekdum jaise tapori ki tarah wo aate hain aur kisi ko bhi ‘aae tu aise karke, tu tadak kar’ kehte hain. (We women feel very uncomfortable seeing them, because they come across like street thugs and talk to anyone rudely, saying things like ‘hey you, do this’ in a rough, disrespectful way.) ” Kangana told news agency IANS.
Further, she said Rahul Gandhi should see the conduct and behaviour of his sister, Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, “which is very good.”“He should see the conduct and behaviour of his sister, which is very good. Rahul Gandhi himself is a shame,” she added.Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi termed Kangana’s allegations “funny”, claiming that the Congress leader comes from a family full of women leadership.“There could be personal or political disagreements, but saying something like this for Rahul ji is wrong,” Chaturvedi said.“I have seen Rahul ji’s commitment towards the upliftment of women and respecting them. It is a bit funny to put such allegations on a person who comes from a family full of women leadership,” she added.This comes a day after several retired bureaucrats and veteran lawyers wrote an open letter asking Rahul Gandhi to apologise over the incident of him having tea and biscuits at the Makar Dwar entrance of Parliament while protesting the energy crisis in the country due to the conflict in the Middle East.Led by former Jammu and Kashmir DGP SP Vaid, the signatories stated that the March 12 incident was “deeply concerning” and reflected a “conscious disregard for parliamentary authority.”On March 12, Rahul Gandhi was seen sharing tea and snacks with his colleagues during a protest at the Makar Dwar entrance to Parliament.S P Vaid said that Rahul Gandhi’s behaviour in Parliament is not becoming of a Leader of the Opposition and shows a “sense of entitlement and arrogance”.“84 former bureaucrats, 116 veterans and former lawyers have addressed this letter to the public stating that Rahul Gandhi’s behaviour in Parliament is not becoming of a Leader of the Opposition, which is a very responsible post,” Vaid said.“His behaviour shows a sense of entitlement and arrogance. He indulges in theatrics; he sits on the steps of Parliament and sips tea amid sloganeering. I think Rahul Gandhi does not understand the importance of the post of LoP,” he added.
