The ‘First Dance’ fiasco: What happened at the wedding
Brooklyn and Nicola had their wedding back in April 2022. It was exactly what you’d expect: tons of celebrities, family everywhere, the whole nine yards. Brooklyn says he and Nicola had planned their first dance for weeks. Simple enough, right? But then, at the reception, Marc Anthony called Brooklyn up to the stage. Only, instead of sharing that special moment with Nicola, Victoria — his mom — jumped in and started dancing with him. Not just any dance, either. The couple did their vow renewal in August 2025, which came over three years after they first wed in Palm Beach back in April 2022.

Brooklyn didn’t stop at the dance. In his Instagram post, he really let everything out. He says he kept quiet for years, trying to keep family drama private, but he just couldn’t anymore. He talked about years of “controlling behavior” and media games from his parents, which finally pushed him to distance himself from them. He revealed that he was especially frustrated by the idea that Nicola “controls” him, flipping that narrative and saying it’s actually been his parents trying to run the show his whole life.Brooklyn wrote, “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life,” adding, “I have been silent for years and have made every attempt to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.“According to Brooklyn, his parents, especially his mom, have been trying to drive a wedge between him and Nicola from day one. He shared that Victoria even canceled making Nicola’s wedding dress at the last minute, so they had to scramble for something else. That’s not all, Brooklyn revealed that on the night of the wedding, his family told him his future wife was “not blood” and “not family.” On top of that, he also claimed his parents pressured him to sign away the rights to his family name before the wedding, which he refused to do.The firstborn of The Beckhams also gave a piece of his mind about attending big moments with his family and posing for the cameras.
