Karnataka horror: Couple ends lives after domestic dispute; toddler survives ‘murder’ bid by father

MANDYA: A young couple allegedly ended their lives following a domestic dispute, leaving behind their two-year-old daughter, who survived the ‘murder’ bid by her father.The deceased were identified as Darshan, 29, and Divyashree, 25, residents of Hosakote village who were living in a rented house in the Jayanagar Extension area of KR Pete taluk. The couple had been married for three years.

According to KR Pete Town police, the incident occurred early on Monday, and it is suspected that a minor argument broke out between the couple inside their house, which escalated into a tragic sequence of events.

Divyashree allegedly took the extreme step of ending her life by hanging first. On discovering his wife’s body, Darshan is believed to have attempted to kill their two-year-old daughter by strangulation. The child allegedly lost consciousness during the attempt. Believing the child died, Darshan later ended his own life by hanging inside the house.Fortunately, the child regained consciousness and was rushed for medical attention. Authorities confirmed that the girl is now safe and out of danger.Darshan worked as a car driver and was also involved in agricultural activities, while Divyashree was employed as a paramedic. Police are investigating to ascertain the exact reasons behind the tragic incident.
