SSC CGL tier 2 exam notice

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has issued an important notice for candidates who appeared in the Tier-II stage of the Combined Graduate Level Examination 2025 (CGL 2025). The commission has announced that candidates must submit their Option-cum-Preference for posts and departments before the declaration of the final result.According to the official notification, the facility to submit post preferences will be available through the Candidate Login section on the SSC website from March 9, 2026 (6:00 PM) to March 12, 2026 (6:00 PM). Only those candidates who appeared in the Tier-II examination are eligible to submit their preferences.SSC conducted the CGL Tier-I examination in computer-based mode, and the results were declared on December 18, 2025 to shortlist candidates for the next stage. The Tier-II examination was subsequently held from January 18 to January 20, 2026.

How candidates can submit their post preferences

Eligible candidates must log in to their account on the official SSC website and navigate to the “My Application” tab. The option-cum-preference form for posts and departments will be available there during the specified period.Candidates can revise their preferences multiple times within the submission window. However, the last submitted preference will be treated as final, and candidates must click the “Submit” button to complete the process.

Mandatory for final selection

The commission has made it clear that submitting post preferences is mandatory for candidates who appeared in Tier-II. Candidates who fail to submit their option-cum-preference within the stipulated period will not be considered for inclusion in the final merit list or final selection. SSC also stated that no further opportunity will be provided to submit preferences once the deadline passes.

Guidelines for PwBD candidates

Candidates belonging to the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) category must ensure that they select only those posts identified as suitable for their disabilities. SSC observed that if a PwBD candidate is allotted a post which is not suitable for his/her disability group, his/her candidature may be cancelled by the concerned user department. While filling up the preference form, it is advised that the candidates should go through the examination notification and corrigenda issued on June 26, 2025, and March 5, 2026, particularly the latest information on benchmark disabilities for the posts.

Check eligibility and standards

SSC has also advised candidates to verify that they meet the required physical and medical standards for the posts they select. If a candidate is later found ineligible for these requirements after selection, their candidature may be cancelled by the concerned department. The commission further clarified that no grievances regarding failure to submit preferences will be entertained once the deadline expires.
