Delroy Lindo briefly addresses BAFTA controversy and N-word slur: ‘I appreciate all the support’
Actor Delroy Lindo has broken his silence on the BAFTA controversy where the n-word was heard from the audience due to a Tourette’s advocate’s involuntary tics. Speaking at the NAACP Image Awards, Lindo expressed gratitude for the support shown to him and Michael B. Jordan following the incident. His film ‘Sinners’ also garnered significant recognition at the event.

Last week at the BAFTAs, as Delroy Lindo and Michael B. Jordan came on stage to announce an award, the n-word slur could be heard coming from the audience. Tourette’s advocate John Davidson had been the one to say the slur live due to involuntary tics that are out of his control. While he had issued a statement on the matter, both of the ‘Sinners’ actors had remained silent about the matter. Now, a week later, Lindo is making his views on the matter clear.

Delroy Lindo addresses BAFTA slur controversy

While attending the 2026 NAACP Image Awards at Pasadena Civic Auditorium on Saturday night, the actor, along with ‘Sinners’ director Ryan Coogler, presented an award. The Wrap reported that during the segment, he briefly addressed the BAFTA incident that happened last week and caused a lot of stir and controversial debate online.He stated at the award show that, “I appreciate all the support and the love we’ve been shown in the aftermath of what happened last weekend. It means a lot to us. It’s an honor to be here this evening.”Meanwhile, ‘Sinners’ was a big hit at the NAACP Awards as well, with Lindo taking home the award title for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his work on the vampire-themed film. At the award show, actress Regina Hall also addressed Lindo and Jordan’s presence at the award show.As she got up on stage to present an award for the night, she took a moment to honor the two actors. She stated at the time, “Take a moment for the two kings in the audience. I just send you so much love for your class.”
