No balloons allowed: Kuwait issues strict guidelines for National Day 2026 celebrations

As Kuwait prepares to mark its national celebrations on 25 February, authorities have issued a clear message: celebrate with pride, but do so responsibly. Kuwait Municipality has urged residents to ensure that public festivities reflect civic awareness, respect for shared spaces and the patriotic values associated with the occasion.

In an official statement, Kuwait Municipality emphasised that public expressions of joy should mirror the community’s sense of responsibility and national pride. The civic body said the way people conduct themselves during the celebrations sends a broader message about Kuwaiti society and its values.Officials underscored that enthusiasm must not come at the expense of public order or communal wellbeing. The municipality called on the public to demonstrate civilised behaviour that aligns with the spirit of the national day.

Cleanliness and public safety a priority

The municipality placed particular emphasis on maintaining the cleanliness of streets, parks and other public facilities. It warned that littering during celebrations not only affects the city’s appearance but also creates potential safety hazards in public areas.According to the statement, discarded waste can pose risks in busy streets and recreational spaces, particularly during large gatherings. Kuwait Municipality also cautioned against the use of balloons and water guns during the celebrations.
