Gurgaon horror: 3.5-year-old raped, strangled to death by neighbour

GURGAON: A 3.5-year-old girl was raped and strangled to death after being lured away from her neighbourhood in the area falling under the jurisdiction of sector 37 police station on Thursday.Police said that at around 12.20am on February 20, Police Station Sector-37 received information about the child going missing. The family later submitted a complaint stating that a neighbour had lured and took their daughter along.“Acting on the complaint, the Sector-37 police team took the suspect into custody the same night and interrogated him. During questioning, the man disclosed that he works in a scrap factory in Sector-37 and that on the late evening of February 19 he took the child to an empty place and raped her and then strangled her to death to destroy evidence”, Sandeep Turan, police spokesperson said.Based on the father’s complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections at Police Station Sector-37, Gurgaon. The accused has been arrested and identified as Shivnath (25), a Bihar native.
