Jaideep Ahlawat teams up with Huma Qureshi for comedy-drama after working with the ‘Kohrra’ director - Reports
After his gripping performance in ‘Paatal Lok’ Season 2, Jaideep Ahlawat is gearing up for a refreshing change of pace in a comedy-drama alongside Huma Qureshi, reuniting for the first time since ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’. The film, directed by Hitesh Kewalya, is set to kick off production in June 2026 and promises to weave humor and sentiment seamlessly.

After stepping into ‘The Family Man’ universe and collaborating with the director of ‘Kohrra’, Jaideep Ahlawat continues his busy streak with yet another intriguing project. Fresh off the success of ‘Paatal Lok’ Season 2, the versatile actor is now set to explore lighter territory with a comedy-drama alongside Huma Qureshi. Interestingly, the pair previously shared screen space in the gritty world of ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’.

What do we know about the new film?

According to OTT Play, Jaideep has been cast in filmmaker Hitesh Kewalya’s upcoming comedy-drama. The project will mark a tonal shift for the actor, who is widely known for intense performances. The film, also starring Huma Qureshi, is scheduled to begin production in June 2026. Early indications suggest the story may blend humour and emotion, somewhat in the vein of ‘Shubh Mangal Zyaada Saavdhan’ and ‘Single Papa’. However, plot specifics and additional casting details are still under wraps.

Reunion from the ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ world

Jaideep Ahlawat and Huma Qureshi first crossed paths in Anurag Kashyap’s cult gangster saga ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’. Huma joined the franchise in ‘Gangs of Wasseypur 2’ as Mohsina, the love interest of Faizal Khan, played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Ahlawat, meanwhile, portrayed Shahid Khan, the patriarch whose story set the violent family feud in motion. Their upcoming collaboration will see them share the screen in a completely different genre, moving from crime drama to comedy.

Other projects in the pipeline

Jaideep Ahlawat is currently riding high on the success of ‘Paatal Lok Season 2’, released January in 2025 and has a packed 2026 slate. Key upcoming projects include the action-thriller ‘King’ alongside Shah Rukh Khan, and ‘The Family Man Season 3’ as an antagonist. He is also busy shooting a new series with Abhishek Banerjee and Barun Sobti.
