Phulera dooj is one of the most auspicious and sacred day, which is celebrated on a grand level specially in Krishna temples. Devotees celebrate this festival and visit krishna temples to seek Lord Krishna’s blessings during this festival, which is solely devoted to worship him. Phulera dooj is celebrated on dwitiya tithi of shukla paksha in the month of phalguna. This year, all followers of Lord Krishna will celebrate phulera dooj tomorrow i.e., February 19, 2026.

The purpose of the celebration is to honor Lord Krishna. Phulera means “Phool,” which indicates flowers, and dooj represents dwitiya tithi. On the auspicious eve of Phulera dooj, Lord Krishna is believed to play with flowers and take part in the Holi festival. It is also believed that the Phulera Dooj celebration will make devotees happier and more joyful.According to Hindu scriptures, Lord Krishna is renowned for his cheerful and joyful nature. He used to enjoy playing with flowers and colors in Vrindavan with his lover Radha and other gopis. They are believed to gather on this day and play holi with flowers. On this day, they show their affection for one another by exchanging gifts and flowers. Phulera dooj is the celebration of the custom of Lord Krishna and Goddess Radha exchanging flowers.

The Phulera Dooj festival is held with much fanfare and spectacle at several Lord Krishna temples, particularly in Mathura and Vrindavan. Streets are lined with flowers, and temples are adorned with flowers. In these temples, a lot of people congregate to celebrate Phulera Dooj with Lord Krishna and Goddess Radha. Devotees, who worship Lord Krishna and Goddess Radha on this auspicious festival of Phulera Dooj are believed to be blessed with prosperity, love, happiness, and fortune.During this time, people celebrate holi with flowers rather than gulaal and colors. On this day, a number of ceremonies and festivals are carried out, and to symbolize the approaching holi celebrations, or idols of the Lord Krishna are painted with various colors.

Phulera Dooj 2026: Rituals

1. Take a holy bath as soon as you wake up.2. Clean the house and set up an altar. Place an idol of Lord Krishna and Goddess Radha. If you don’t have an idol of Radha Krishna, you can place Laddoo Gopal.3. Give bath to them with water, rose water, ubtan and flowers.4. Adorn them in lovely clothes and place them on a swing.5. Use various kinds of flowers to offer them.6. Light a diya in front of the idol using desi ghee.7. Recite different Krishna mantras to invoke the idol. 8. Prepare sweets for the Lord, including panjeeri, panchamrit, khoya barfi, rice kheer, and makhana kheer.9. Offer a tulsi patra, since you are aware that a puja is incomplete if you do not present tulsi dal.10. Chant Krishna aarti and then give the prasad to each member of the family.
