T20 World Cup: Zimbabwe kickstart campaign with dominant eight-wicket win over Oman

Zimbabwe cruised to an easy eight-wicket win over Oman in their T20 World Cup match, thanks to a strong bowling performance and a calm chase led by Brian Bennett.After winning the toss, Zimbabwe chose to bowl, and their fast bowlers quickly took control. Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava tore through Oman’s batting lineup, reducing them to 27 for five early on.

Brad Evans also bowled well, helping to restrict Oman to a modest total of 103 runs. A few Oman players tried to fight back, with Vinayak Shukla, Sufyan Mehmood, and Nadeem Khan making some runs, but they couldn’t build a big score.Chasing 104, Zimbabwe started aggressively with Tadiwanashe Marumani, who scored quickly before getting out. Dion Myers fell without scoring, but Brian Bennett and Brendan Taylor steadied the innings with a solid partnership. Bennett stayed unbeaten on 48 from 36 balls, while Taylor made 31 before retiring hurt. Their partnership guided Zimbabwe to victory in just over 13 overs.Bennett’s performance continued his excellent recent form, showing why he is considered one of Zimbabwe’s key players. Taylor also looked sharp, and overall Zimbabwe looked confident and focused, especially after missing the previous World Cup.In short, Zimbabwe dominated with the ball, stayed calm with the bat, and wrapped up a comfortable win.
