Pop-star Charlie Puth set the tone of the 2026 Super Bowl with the soulful delivery of the American National anthem at the Levi’s Stadium field, Santa Clara, California. Puth stood on a white platform on the field to play keyboard while singing “The Star-Spangled Banner.” He was backed by a band and choir, which added extra depth to his pop-style rendition.

Dressed in a brown leather bomber jacket over a white shirt and tie with jeans, Puth opened the anthem on a gentle note before building to a high note during the ‘Rockets red glare’ line. As fireworks burst above a close-up of the singer, Puth ended his performance with an unexpected final note, adding his own touch to the more than 200-year-old song.

Certainly, the Super Bowl is one of America’s biggest events. This time too the energy was high. And, after Puth’s opening performance with the national anthem, fans took to social media to share their reactions, where many praised his performance. Some excitingly said that Charlie Puth sang “the greatest anthem” ever, while some crowned him “Artist of the year.”One fan wrote why Charlie should be a “bigger artist.”
Puth revealed in a November Instagram post that he would be singing the national anthem and wrote, “I can’t believe I’m saying this. … I will be performing the National Anthem at Super Bowl LX.”He described the song as “one of the most beautiful pieces of music” in the video but also pointed out it is one of “the hardest to sing” thanks to the “extreme vocal range” needed.

Puth’s rendition of the National Anthem comes amid the rollout for his upcoming fourth album, “Whatever’s Clever,” releasing on March 27. He already dropped the lead single “Changes” and followed with “Beat Yourself Up.”
