'Quit your job': Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong SLAMS ICE agents during Super Bowl pre-show
Billie Joe Armstrong, the dynamic frontman of Green Day, captured audience attention at a Super Bowl pre-show by vehemently criticizing ICE agents, challenging them to leave their roles and advocate for change. This daring moment exemplifies the band’s ongoing commitment to social issues, echoing their revised version of ‘American Idiot’ that boldly confronts the political landscape.

Iconic rock band Green Day has always been vocal about their views and political standings from the beginning of their career. Recently, they joined the long list of celebrities who have been open about their views on the ICE crackdowns across the US.

Green Day talks about the ICE crackdowns

Entertainment Weekly reported that Green Day performed at an invite-only event in San Francisco’s Pier 29 on the Embarcadero. During their live performance, the band’s leading man, Billie Joe Armstrong, was all about the ‘ICE OUT’ agenda.Armstrong stated during one of the segments that “This goes out to all the ICE agents out there, wherever you are, Quit that s—ty job you have.” He also urged for people to come to the ‘other side’, commenting that top political figures will not support them at the end of the day in the long run. “They’re gonna drop you like a bad f—ing habit. Come on this side of the line,” the singer quipped.Green Day has often modified its songs to portray its political stance. They once changed the lyrics of one of their most famous songs, ‘American Idiot.’ The original lyrics read, “I’m not a part of a redneck agenda”; however, they changed it to “I’m not a part of the MAGA agenda” in reference to Donald Trump’s campaign slogan of ‘Make America Great Again.’

US president Donald Trump’s statement against Green Day

Green Day is all set and ready to perform at the Super Bowl event, though they faced direct backlash from U.S. President Donald Trump. The President shared his disdain over the decision to get Green Day, as well as Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny to perform at pivotal moments of the Super Bowl events. In a social media post made last month, the US president had stated, “I’m anti-them. I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible.”
