'Dhurandhar 2' marketer EXPLAINS 'no promotions' strategy; says, 'Don't kill the excitement by over-delivering…'
Anticipation for ‘Dhurandhar 2’ is high, yet promotions are deliberately minimal. Marketer Varun Gupta explains this strategy aims to maintain audience excitement, likening it to offering a starter to build appetite for the main course. This approach, a risk for the first film, is now a confident tactic, focusing on the product’s inherent appeal rather than overt selling.

‘Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge’ is one of the most anticipated movies of the year 2026. The buzz around the film is on another level. After the makers dropped the first teaser, the viewers were disappointed, as it showcased nothing new. The glimpse was already shown in the post-credit scene of ‘Dhurandhar’. However, the person who is handling the marketing of part 2 shared that it was a conscious decision to release the same footage. Let’s learn more about it.

Dhurandhar 2‘ marketer Varun Gupta explains why there are no promotions

In an interview with the Hindustan Times, the film’s marketer, Varun Gupta, opened up about the preparations for ‘Dhurandhar 2’.As people are expressing why there are still no promotions about the upcoming ‘Dhurandhar 2’, Varun Gupta shared, “Sometimes the best strategy is not to come in the way of something that is very organic. It will be very foolish of us as a team to try and overdo something that is already doing so well.”The marketer stated that the curiosity and anticipation around the film already exist, and hence they feel, “Don’t kill the excitement by over-delivering or satisfying the viewer.”Varun Gupta explained the strategy further in simple terms. He said, “If you are hungry, I will only give you a starter and let you crave for the main course. If your stomach is filled and you are full till the neck, would you still buy the ticket on the first day? No!”He further elaborated that opting for the no-promotions strategy for the first film was a “risk”; however, now, “it will obviously be a strategy.”Gupta clarified that it doesn’t mean that the makers will not promote the movie at all, but “We didn’t try to be desperate then; we won’t try to be desperate now.”Expressing his thoughts, he added that this is because they are “being confident” of their product, “rather than being overconfident after the first one’s success.”
