Kochi: Police booked two United States nationals for allegedly operating drones in a high-security zone in Fort Kochi. The FIR has been registered against Katie Michelle Phelps, 32, and Christopher Ross Harvey, 35, both hailing from Redding, California. As per the FIR, the duo operated a drone in the Red Zone in Fort Kochi, where INS Dronacharya and the Coast Guard headquarters are located. The FIR says that, without any permission, they operated the drone at Chariot Junction near the Children’s Park and recorded visuals in the vicinity of INS Dronacharya. The duo was booked after the tourism police reported the incident. The case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Aircraft Act and the Drone Rules. Police said that they were not arrested but were served notices.
